2-point Training
The 2-point training signal-to-noise ratio is reported in 3Com V.90 modems I11 status line.
V.34 modems use 4- and 16-point training. The digital portion of the telephone call operates at 64kbps - 8000 8-bit words a second. The 56k client modem samples the analog amplitude 8000 times a second, and training from one to the next sample is performed. The 3Com status line indicates the signal-to-noise ratio calculated during this training. The signal-to-noise ratio calculated during V.34 training is reported and labeled earlier in the I11 output.
